Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) in their most simple form extract energy from outside air, compress this energy and then transfer this into a usable form in your home. It is, crudely, an refrigerator in reverse. There are a variety of types of ASHPs available on the market, but the most common ones installed in the UK are 'monobloc' air-to-water heat pump systems.
There is a full and detailed article on how air-to-water (A2W) heat pumps operate here which delves much deeper into this type of heating system.
With many years' experience in the heat pump industry, Cirrus Energy works to provide you with unbiased and expert heat pump advice and design. Whether you're considering a heat pump, have an issue with an existing system, we want to use our experience to work with you to achieve a truly outstanding heat pump system.
Whilst we aren't installers ourselves, we have a robust network of installation partners across the UK that we work with to fit systems. Having a qualified, knowledgable installer (plumber and electricians) is just as important as having an optimised design, so we work with our installers to provide a complete heating system install with us providing design and consultancy with project management and them working with you to install, commission and maintain your heat pump.
We consider the design and install to be two complementary skillsets and qualifications that fit together for complete project success. We have an existing relationship with our partner installer companies and are fully confident in their services - we will only work with the very best in the industry so you can have complete peace of mind.
We are not financially compensated by or interlinked with our installers, so any referral to an installer is entirely based on trust and expertise so you know you are in safe hands.
We only refer installers that we would contract to fit systems in our own home- this is how high our standards are!
As a general rule, yes, most UK homes (and some businesses) are eligable for claiming this grant.
In order to claim, your installer must be MCS registered, the system must be approved (most systems are) and your property must meet certain requirements based on its type (either an existing build or self-build). The only types of property that outright do not qualify are new developer led builds, which if you are private individual you don't have to worry about.
Further detailed information on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme can be found here.
Cirrus Energy cover the whole of the UK for remote and digital consulting, with a majority of our work being done at a distance which heavily reduces the cost to you. This has been our experience of working in industry for almost half a decade.
In the event that you require/request a site visit, physical heat loss or in-person services we would be delighted to accomodate this and are fully equipped with work vehicles and tools to come to you. We are happy to travel so please let us know if you feel that you would prefer in-person consulting services.
We would be more than happy to help with troubleshooting and resolution of issues with existing systems - we are sorry to hear that you are having problems with your system. We can also get you in touch with a trusted installer if a physical resolution is required and work with manufacturers to resolve your issue.
Absolutely. This is, sadly, a common issue in the heat pump industry and we would be more than happy to help connect you with a trusted installer who can help you with any issues you may be having with your system.
