Yes, when designed and installed correctly, a heat pump offers a fantasic source of low cost heating and hot water for your customers.

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) in their most simple form extract energy from outside air, compress this energy and then transfer this into a usable form in a building. 

We have complied a quick guide for installers detailing the difference between a heat pump and gas boiler but have summerised the key points below.

Essentially, the ones you likely already have. As a plumber it will be G3 Unvented Cylinders and Water Regs and for electricians it will be domestic/commercial certs, nothing different from what you are probably already utilising. 

That's it! 

You don't need to complete any formal further qualifications in Low Temperature (Part L) unless you want to upskill further (which we do reccommend as there is plenty of government funding available!). 

You will, however, need to fit the system under MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) but the good news is that you can partner with an 'Umbrella' company who can essentially sign this off on your behalf. Cirrus Energy provide the design, survey, heat loss and consultancy for the system with MCS sign off provided by our partner in your local area. 

Crucially, this allows your customer to access the £7,500 BUS grant which covers the cost of MCS signoff and design, so it is net zero cost to them (in fact, they save thousands from this).

If you are a developer, architect, or are in need of a plumber, we can connect you with our experienced installers in your area. We do, however offer complete installation and commissioning support. 

Our services leave you to do what you do best-fitting heating systems with the complete knowledge that you have a heat pump specialist with you every step of the way.

We consider the design and install to be two complementary skillsets and qualifications that fit together for complete project success. 

We are not financially compensated by or interlinked with our installers, so any referral to an installer is entirely based on trust and expertise so you know you are in safe hands. 

We only refer installers that we would contract to fit systems in our own home- this is how high our standards are!

As a general rule, yes, most UK homes (and some businesses) are eligable for claiming this grant. 

In order to claim, your system/design must be MCS registered (which we can support you with, so don't worry about this), the heat pump itself must be MCS approved and the property must meet certain requirements based on its type (either an existing build or self-build). The only types of property that outright do not qualify are new developer led builds, which if your customer is a private individual you don't have to worry about.
